While the HTML code output by WordPress is very Google-friendly, there isn’t much in the way of SEO control in the standard WordPress installation.
To overcome that, there are lots of SEO plugins available, but the one I recommend above all others is the “WordPress SEO” plugin by Yoast. If you don’t have this already, then go to “Plugins –> Add New” in your WordPress dashboard and search for “WordPress SEO”, then look for the one by Joost De Valk.
Setting this up can be a bit daunting at first glance, but it’s actually a lot easier than it looks, and you don’t really need everything it has to offer.
To help you, here’s a quick video I made that walks you through many of the basic settings that should be applicable to most WordPress sites.
If you have any questions at all about anything in the video, get in touch, and I’ll do my best to help you.
