Create A Tag For Your Lead Magnet Subscribers
Tags are one of your biggest workhorses within ActiveCampaign, so you’ll be using these for a variety of purposes.
- To segment customers and leads by interest (weddings, portraits, commercial etc.)
- To start and stop automation sequences
- To target the sending of broadcast emails
The first tag you need will control the delivery of your lead magnet to the people who signed up for it. Whenever someone signs up for your lead magnet, they’ll have a specific tag applied to them within ActiveCampaign, which is then used to start the appropriate automation sequence used to deliver the lead magnet to them.
We’ll get into the automation part in task 4.
For now, you just need to create the tag you’re going to use.
Click on “Contacts” in the ActiveCampaign main menu, and then expand the blue sub-menu box labeled “Manage Scoring”. You should see something like this:
The first item on the list is “Manage Tags”, so click on that.
You should then see a screen showing any tags you’ve already created, and a box on the left where you can enter new tags.
In the box, enter the text for the tag you’re going to use for your lead magnet.
You can call your tag whatever you like, but I recommend following a consistent naming convention as it helps to keep your tags organized, especially if you end up with a lot of tags to manage like I do.
“LM: Family Portrait Guide”
(“LM” obviously stands for “lead magnet”).
Remember to click “Add Tag” to save your tag.
We’ll refer back to this tag in task 4 when we create your lead magnet delivery automation.
