Hi Fellow Professional Photographer,
I think you’ll agree that stumbling around in the dark is no fun.
For example, I remember one night during a trip to New Zealand. My camper van was parked at a campsite located on a hilltop overlooking the town of Akaroa (a beautiful place not far from Christchurch).
Not in the mood for camping food, I decided to venture into the town to find a friendly pub with good food and a warm fire to sit by (this was July, and it was cold down under).
I made the journey down the steep hill, found the perfect place, enjoyed a good meal, and then headed back up…
And immediately realized that I’d forgotten to bring a flashlight, and there wasn’t even any moonlight to guide the way.
The path up the hill was unlit and quite unfamiliar, darker than the inside of an elephant, with a lot more exposed tree roots and rocks than I remembered seeing on the way down.
Not only that, but this was the off-season and the campsite wasn’t exactly well lit, which made finding my camper van a little tricky.
After roaming around for a while, I eventually made it, but what I would have given for a good flashlight 🙂
